Electric power steering?

Post by mickaz »

Hi

I just had an Idea to remove the hydraulic power steering. having an manual steering rack and having a motor assist the steering column (for low speed at high speed nearly useless) or finding a steering rack that has an electric assist already on it that would look the same our( less likely but I have seen some rack that looked like our)

A cobalt/G5 seems to be a good working idea, but i think it looks for the BCM for input. if it could be somewhat hooked up to the speedo to come on at certain speed, that would be great for the drag racers.

If you have any input I am interested in it, I will but a steering column from a G5/cobalt to see if It can be done.

MR2, Subaru XT's have pumps you can retrofit. The newer stuff would be a pain to retrofit

Hey mickaz thanks or the post. I am probably going to do this and replace the power steering pump with a super charger.
