If something could dug out of the list of 4 tracks within an hour that Sara mentioned, I'd be a lot more open to the idea. It'd have to be a 1/4 mile though, or my feelings remain the same. I live within 15 minutes of one of the nicest 1/8 mile tracks in the country. ;)
They are not 1/4 thats the point... all 1/4 tracks are either booked or not open that are within most of the users acceptable distance... there are others but they are at least 1hr away. The close ones are all 1/8th, at least from what I've been told.

The ones that are close are 1/8th mile tracks.

There are only 2 1/4 mile tracks in the state.

Is there anyway we can just settle on something and just stop whinning about it? Who cares if its 2 hrs away, its the drive that makes it fun and the group of berettas driving down the road making people think wtf is up with all the berettas. People, we need to stop complaining about the distance, pick a 1/4 track and just do it. If the people unwilling to drive 2hrs dont want to go, then stay in your rooms and cry about it. As for the people that want to race, lets do it and stop talking about it. This is two weeks away and we need something in concrete!

Thats what I've been trying to say for a while now, but we spend too much time trying to satisfy everyone.

US 41 is 2 hrs away, Muncie is 1 hr away... Has anyone contacted BOTH tracks and heard back on anything yet?

Edgewater is also close to 2hrs away.

Unfortunately I do not have time to contact these tracks to set anything up. As I said before if there is racing great if not well thats a bummer but I don't personally have the time to set something up.

That scratches any strip within one hour then. Unless its an 1/8th mile, but not many like the idea of that.

This is quite ridiculous. Two and half weeks to the Fest and the organization for thursday night is still in shambles. I dont think i have ever seen this. And there was no contingency plan? Oh wait there was, but people are bitching about that too. Enough people, just decide and do it. No more bickering. If no one wants to drive to go dragging, then we should all hit the go kart track and spare everyone the issue. Set it in stone, make it part of the plan and end the discussion ;)

I agree with you Geoff, but the issue with that is we can NOT secure a group deal without enough people. Its $1700 for the gokarts, so unless we have 25 people guaranteed to go we can't expect people to split that price... right now at the listed 14 people that would be $121 a head... I'm sure if we set that in stone those 14 people would not be happy since they thought it was going to be around $68.

We need more group involvement and MORE of the registered users to be active on this board so we CAN organize stuff. There are way too many people who are registered to go that don't even visit this board.

And this is not the only year this happened... Charlotte was the same deal... The planning committee then never secured the strip at Charlotte's huge track so we lost out on that and hit up an 1/8th mile on a test and tune night. IIRC there was no special deal or group thing there for us.

A lot of that stems from how we still use the archaic mail serve group for organizing. I didn't even know there was a go kart sign up sheet until last week.

So why dont we all just hit up the go kart track, not secure a group deal and just do that?

As it sits right now, there wont be anything going on for thursday night and i will not spend my Bfest time bar hoping. I can do that crap here! I want to do somthing more involved....

I'm not big on either drag or go karts, but I will follow the group along if I have to. Sara had mentioned going to the zoo or something thursday since no one can figure out what to do.
Mostly you meet friends when traveling by accident, like by sitting next to them on the train, or in a restaurant, or in a holding cell.
