Tuner needed for 96 Z26.... HP Tuner or DHP Tuner
Tuner needed for 96 Z26.... HP Tuner or DHP Tuner
I need a tuner to use on my 1996 Z26. It's currently bone stock and I'd like to use the current ECM that I have. I read somewhere that you can only use DHP Tuners with this ECM, if anyone can confirm that I'd appreciate it. If an HP Tuner will work let me know as well.

HP tuners you would have to start with a Monte Carlo ECM but its a direct plug in ECM, you only need to make a few changes to the calibration to work properly with your current setup.
Try searching on grand prix forums. A lot of guys are trying to off load DHP's for HPtuner units since DHP is dead in the water. For us though the DHP works quite well.

This is the official list...

I've never actually tried to read a stock V6 PCM in the beretta so I don't know what would happen if I tried. As far as the interfaces are concerned, the main advantage I hear with the HPTuners is that the scanner is better... I myself have never messed with DHP.

I would think Passlock would be a problem. Beretta's and Corsica's are the only cars in 1996 without Passlock. Ran into this problem with the DHP which is why I requested the Beretta calibration.

Yes, I've done it on an 02 Cutlass and my moms 02 GA both due to the lock cylinder starting to go bad and continuously throw the security system into a fit. Disabled it and now it starts every time, and no SES light or security light is on. So yes you could do it on a Grand Prix, or whatever you have that is supported by DHP.Z26_T wrote:sorry for hijack... with DHP can you disable VATS on non 60* cars?
Not only do you shut off the VATS Cliff, but you need to go through all of the DTC's and disable all of the relevant security ones. I found out that was the missing link the first time I tried to do it.
