possible hood release cable fix......for less than 2 bux!
my cable broke the other day and the replacement looked like a pain in the donk to replace. i started brain storming i wal mart and ran across the braided steel lines used for hanging large picture frames. it is incredibly close to the size of the original cable and was only $1.60 plus tax. putting the stops on the ends will take a little "ingenuity" but hell its only 2 bucks if it fails.
i'm gonna try to install it tomorrow and report back. if it doesnt work i may try a guitar string from a bass guitar. they seem to pretty strong too.

Use a cable from a bicycle. Most bike shops will sell you just the cable(no casing) for cheap at a pretty long length. It already has one end on it. Then just drill a hole in a bolt and put the cable through and crimp it with a nut for your other end.

It's super easy to swap in a new release cable in its entirety... I just did it.
