BerettaFest 2012 St. Louis, MO Proposal
Beretta Fest 2012 – St. Louis, Mo.

It’s time we see a centralized location that’s easy for everyone to attend!! The Gateway City has plenty to offer its visitors with fun, family-friendly activities, great entertainment venues and an exciting nightlife. Journey to the top of the Gateway Arch, interact with butterflies, try your hand at some science experiments or immerse yourself in a little arts and culture – it's all in a day's fun in St. Louis, Missouri.

Noon – 4:00: Hotel check in and Bfest registration
4:00 – ?: Go Karting, Ice Skating, Shopping (NASCAR Speed Park http://www.nascarspeedpark.com/mo - ALL of this is located inside of St. Louis Mills Mall)
Friday, June 22th 2012
10:00 – 3:00: See the Gateway Arch & Downtown (http://www.stlouisarch.com)
Since Gateway Int’l Raceway has closed, I will be looking into options to try to find a track that we can go to. So far, the 1/8 mi track in Sikeston, MO is the only one in the area that is open. There is supposedly another track that will be opening soon, but I will have to look into that. So this portion remains open but here are the options:
4:00 - ?: Sikeston, MO Strip (2-1/2 hr drive) OR Mid America Raceway (if it is indeed up and running, 1 hr trip)
4:00 - ? Grab some food downtown at famous Laclede’s Landing, have some drinks and listen to the bands! (http://www.lacledeslanding.com)
4:00 - ? Take a bfest cruise, head out west. Stop at a few wineries (http://www.augusta-missouri.com) Make a stop at Klondike Park for a bfest photo op. (http://parks.sccmo.org/parks/index.php? ... &Itemid=20)
Saturday, June 23th 2012
10:00 – 3:00: Annual Picnic and Car Show-Location to be determined
(Suggestions are: Forest Park - St. Louis, Mo. http://www.slfp.com/SLFP-FPFEmap.htm OR Laumeier Sculpture Park http://www.laumeiersculpturepark.org)
3:00 - ?: Free time to Explore St. Louis

Mostly you meet friends when traveling by accident, like by sitting next to them on the train, or in a restaurant, or in a holding cell.

Re: BerettaFest 2012 St. Louis, MO Proposal
The strip closed? That sucks. We didn't even go there in 2000.
Re: BerettaFest 2012 St. Louis, MO Proposal
It closed in 2010!!! Apparently they had a lot of bonds they took out years ago and couldn't pay them back. I have heard a rumor that someone is trying to step in and buy the place.ErichZ26 wrote:The strip closed? That sucks. We didn't even go there in 2000.
Also the Mid America Raceway (the new one that is supposedly being built), they kept saying that it was still in the works and they had plenty of sponsorship and such. Last I knew the scheduled opening was supposed to be in 2011, but I have not heard anything since April. It is supposed to be 1/8 & 1/4 mile! I have a number to call, so I will check into it soon.
So there is the likely hood that both may be open in 2012...who knows.

Re: BerettaFest 2012 St. Louis, MO Proposal
I'm still reading proposals but if STL wins I would like to offer my help. STL was the first Bfest I attended. I will add to this I know I have 1/4mile raced with Rex Weatherford in Wentzville before and it wasn't too far away(40 miles). Some places the wife and I like to eat while we are in town are Hodaks, featured on Rachel Ray $40 a day, a half fried chicken and two sides for like $7. Also The Old Spaghetti Factory down by the Arch, horse carriage rides for all the couples.
