Re: 2.8 Performance ideas
i dont think so.. id just have the guy make you one.. if its not done correctly and makes your motor sit wierd, even an inch off, and all you'll do is chew through axles. he said he'd make me one for 90 bucks. saves you time and the hassle. but thats just how i feel. im sure he would hook you up with the blueprint though

You are going to have more than just mount issues if you plan on sticking with the auto. The dipstick tube will need to be modified if you plan on using the 3x00 manifolds as the newer style rear manifold will not allow the dipstick to use its current mount location. Also, the rear manifold will be VERY close to the auto shifter cable. A shifter setup (shifter, cable, mount) from a 92/93 with the 3t40 remedies this problem. These won't be problems if you stick with the 2.8/3.1 manifolds, which i WOULD NOT do.

edit: I wanted to use the 4t60e trans. Would the shifter setup work on it?

The 4t60e will not work as the "e" designation means it is computer controlled. There are mid 80's to early 90's vehicles that used a non-"e" 4t60 that will work. I would still grab the shifter components i mentioned simply because it is located away from the exhaust. As far as the dipstick issue - it mounts different on the 4t60 so may just need some minor tweaking to route it correctly.jking18 wrote:Thanks for the heads up. 350.00 iirc will get you the needed electronics to run a 60e or 65e (your choice) if you wish to go that route.
