It'll test if that crossmember will flex under load and those welds.... Not trying to bash you at all with the setup i will go different in some aspects of the swap since like on facebook i just found a 240 rear end and a buddy in florida is doing the swap too, keoki? on here joined recentlly. I just dont want any unfortunate accident with that rear barring all gm converted rwd cars from maybe competing in fd events is all.....

Think about the forces that this crossmember sees. Then consider the way the subframe is mounted in the 240. It sees mostly side to side forces, in which a 22ga member would even be plenty, I used 1/8". Really the only up and down it sees is torque from accelerating and braking. I feel that that is minimal compared to the side to side forces.

Like I said I am building this car to take a beating and looks come second. If you ever build a rwd beretta you can use as much expensive fancy steel as you choose, it's your project.

As for the banning rwd swapped gm cars in FD.... Face palm

I don't think anyone here is trying to bash you for what your doing, and I don't think anyone here is a mechanical engineer either. With that being said, people have different opinions of what is right and what's not. First and foremost, I have been thinking about this swap myself for a while now. It wasn't until alpinestar brought this to my attention about someone actually doing it. And for that, I aplaud you and your work. But I plan to go a different route all together to get the 240 subframe up and in the rear of my 95 GAGT. We share a lot of similarities from your beretta to my ga, but I personally feel that modifying the front 2 points of the 240 rear from the vertical mount to the horizontal mount would be more solid and rigid. Its an opinion based assumtion that I feel that I wouldn't want to mess with the factory unibody/frame structure. I think it would be easier to reinforce the 2 new points on the 240 rear than it would be to reinforce the unibody/frame. But since I joined the party late, I couldn't give you my opinion and it was to late. Anyway, I plan on building a jig to align the rear end and modify those front 2 points so I can just bolt it in at the front half and weld up a heavy crossmember for the back 2 mounts. Either way, no one here I think wants to see this fail. But we are all trying to back you up and give you our opinion, just so no one gets hurt, including yourself.

watch yourself, i went to school for mechanical engineering.... some of us on here know a thing or two more then you may think, just because we own and drive beretta's, doesn't make us poor or mean we lack knowledge.

I'm also a mechanical engineer, just didn't graduate yet.

Pulled motor today. A few points to note:

I need a rwd timing cover. Was gonna modify the fwd one but it's easier to do it with a rwd one.
Our brake boosters are huge and are totally in the way. This issue sucks.

Tunnel cutting is going to be a lot of cutting haha

People that want parts please pm me everything is available now

I've heard that you can get electric brake boosters and they are quite a bit smaller maybe try looking into that.

Ehhhhh I hit a lot of stuff. Mostly crashes in the snow. It's amazing that I have been off the road like 6 times in this car and only the bumper is to show for it
