engine swap
anyone know where i can find some info on swapping a 3.1 v6 and a 5speed into a corsica originally with a 2.2 auto?

going from a 4 cylinder to a v6 you need pretty much everything, easiest to find a whole car with a good running motor for cheap, like a older 3.1 caviler or something, you need the wire harness/ecm engine mounts, axles/ obvious the transmission.
I swapped my 88 beretta from a 2.0 L automatic to a 3.1 5 speed. i picked up a 91 cavy with the motor and trans i had every part needed.
And actually the engine mounts in the cavy were the exact same as the 2.0 L in my beretta other then the lower dogbone mount was a different length. swap engine harness plug and play ecm. You need a v6 fuel pump as well. my car did run with the 2.0 pump, it sat for a year before i could insure it after i done the swap so it was only ever started once in a while to move around, i drove it for 2 weeks with the 2.0 L fuel pump. it wouldnt pass pollution test i think because it was running too lean. new fuel pump cost me 130 i think and will fit directly in place of the original one.

^^Note on the year: 88-91 have the same engine mounts as similar year Cavaliers, and automatic and manual transmissions had the same mount designs.
If you have a 92+ car you will end up welding in new mounts.

2.0L/2.2L TBI engines use a different fuel pump versus the MPFI setups - you will definitely need to change that over as well.

the 2.0 L fuel pump runs 12 psi vs the 2.8/3.1 at 45 psi.. my car still ran with the 2.0 l pump. i drove it for 2 weeks like that and it scooted i never noticed a difference putting the 3.1 pump in, so it will run it temporary but you shouldnt run the crap out of it until its changed, the 3.1 pump will connect inside your tank the same as the stock one.
Im assuming your engine mounts will be the same since its a 90. best to find yourself a whole car thats rotted out for a cheap price for the engine and trans, then you have the wire harness /ecm / lower dog bone engine mount, cv shafts ect. and you could use the used fuel pump from the donar car if you wish. i just spend the money and bought a brand new one in my car when i done it.

I can supply a good majority if not all of the 5 speed swap parts needed for the right price if you can't find anything.

well i was looking into getting a tgp motor, 5 speed trans, harness and a tuned ecm. i read somewhere that all i need as far as mounts are ones from a pre 92 with a v6, that was more of my concern really.
