Near-miss on the highway today.
I drive for my paycheck. Sometimes it can be scary out there. Today was one of those times.
I deliver and pick-up auto parts on the North half of Indianapolis/Hamilton Co. as part of my job and I spend a lot of time on the road. I have been clipped once had numerous scares, and today's was the worst.
~8:50am today I was coming back from the warehouse, driving a Ford Ranger North on I-465 near Lawrence in the second from right lane. I had just passed under 56th St and there was some traffic coming down the merge ramp off of 56th/Shadeland. I looked over to see where they were going to merge to, when I noticed a silver 2000's Celica going a little faster than the other car.
I watch him and I see him suddenly start rapidly swerving side to side. I start braking, knowing something let go on his car, and I know what is next. He wobbles about three times and then stands on his brakes. He loses control skids left into the left merge lane and turns it sideways. He skids in a surprisingly clean arc and manages not to flip. I am full on panic stop by now, as he crosses into the first lane of I-465 nose pointed due west and the front tires bite and he ends up pointed right at me, south in the north bound lane. I finally get stopped, and he rolls the last few feet and ends up just one car length off my front bumper. Nose to nose. I look back and there is two semi's and a box truck coming up fast. I wave at them to go left as he begins to pull off the the median of the merge ramp. the semis get over and I take off as soon as my way is clear. He makes it to the median and I make it out of there before the semi's get to us.
If I had just been going even a few MPH faster, he would have hit me on the side and would have sent my truck into a spin or worse a roll.
I hope it was mechanical, if not this guy has no businesses driving.
Please, drive carefully everyone.

I use to run HVAC parts and I guess I was lucky. Never had anything like that happen, but it was just a matter of time. Glad I got out of that line of work.

Good driving! The best drivers always know what is about to happen to the next guy, and not just themselves...

Piss off tool.
Anyway, sounds scary. I've had a full size Wisconsin plow nearly push me off the road in a GMC Top Kick 3500. Had i not been in such a big truck, I woulda been killed im sure. Wing plow pretty much cut right through the dump box, was a couple feet from my head.
I'll take a near miss over that anyday.
