Manual Transmission
Does any body know what this piece is called? Does anybody have any for sale?
It is some kind of a plastic bushing or something, it disintegrated in my transmission and now the shift is quite sloppy.

Re: Manual Transmission
Okay, five posts...
I'm from Wisconsin. The Booger Bushings seem to be the type of thing I'm looking for. However, I don't really need two. I joined the forum a few months ago, and figured I would ask here, since I'd rather support a community than a corporation.
Also not looking for a whole transmission. I seem to have a 1996 base model; IIRC it has the 2.2li L4.

Well Booger Bushings are going to be about the only thing that you will find. Most used ones will have a short life(if they can be found in good shape). Also the people that make Booger Bushings have kind of a small company. Really I've been told that they are an upgrade over stock.

Welcome! I'm in Wisconsin too, right in the center of the state! Where are you at in WI? My 94 Quad Z26 uses the same style rubber bushings as your 96, they suck!Puska 35.M wrote:Okay, five posts...

I live right on the outskirts of Janesville, south of you.scd88ga wrote:Welcome! I'm in Wisconsin too, right in the center of the state! Where are you at in WI? My 94 Quad Z26 uses the same style rubber bushings as your 96, they suck!
I'm surprised to hear that the bushing is rubber, as what is left of mine has the consistency of plastic! I've owned the car since 2009, and it always shifted sloppily. I had no idea until a few weeks ago that there really was an issue. I'd had people look at the gearbox and everything and they always said it was fine.
I'll give the Boogers a try. I can't wait to put them on! Is there a specific size one should be looking at?
