'94 corsica starting issue.

Post by unsmart1 »

Alright so the 94 corsica (3100) has recently developed its own special issue. About 3 weeks ago it came down to here and there if i shut it off (to get gas, go into the bank.. whatever) I'd come back out, and the sob would crank HARD about 3 times, forgive me for my lame description..it'd go uh..uh...uhhh click click click. Then nothing Id have to find someone nearby to jump start me and it would take a good 10-15 minutes for it to jump. Its always just cranked weird. Then 2 weeks ago it started turning over fast but would crank forever fire up then die, crank it over again, it cranks fast and finally will fire, and run good. I hear the fuel pump running loud and clear, also before this started, the temp gauge quit working. Ive had no lights come either. Someone said the battery is junk, some say alternator, some think the coolant sensor i yet to replace is shorting out something. Any suggestions? Aside from this, its a great running little $300 turd, 122k no knocks that i can hear, no shakes, no misses, has some testiculars too  .

Its been parked since last saturday night. And Ive been driving the dodge..which loves the gas pump.

Thanks.

Well replace the temp sensor because if that's not working the fueling will be all screwed up... as far as the slow crank, that's signs of a bad battery so I would load check the battery and also do a charge test on the alternator... The SES light does not come on every time there is an issue... some things the ECU can not detect so don't rely on that to tell you there is a problem.

I mentioned no ses light in case someone asked. I dont pay attention to it anyways since when it does come on, its the typical egr code you told me of once before. Ill take the battery out of the beretta since it's brand new and just sitting in there unhooked. Ill mess with the corsi tomorrow seeing it's my day off. Its just weird how the temp sensor and oil sending unit will affect the fueling.
