Coil upgrade
I just wanted to get a little opinion on this, do you guys think aftermarket coils are worth any kind of performance gain for an n/a vehicle?  According to JBP (I know, such a reliable source) the MSD coils make your engine run smoother in mid-range-rpm - is that accurate?  I don't really intend on getting these, or atleast at the moment, but I was just browsing and was taking a look at them.

Dude, F them. That company blows. They want you to bend over, and take it while they rip you off.

Boner is right, you wont notice any difference with aftermarket coils unless your stock coils are already screwed up.
A stock replacement is just as good if not better than any aftermarket coil. Infact, many people have nothing but BAD things to say about certain yellow aftermarket coils

Coil upgrade
I have nothing bad to say about Jacobs Electronics DIS coils. Although the company has been bought up since I last did business with them.
As for performance, you won't notice much. If you have E-check, then you will notice much lower emissions. Also if you burn a little oil (in which most berettas burn a little), oil comsumption will most likely go down.

In fact the ignition systems on our cars is more than sufficient.
You will notice no gain whatsoever unless your stock stuff needs replacing any way.
Money can be much better spent on other mods.

If your coils are gone then replace with aftermarket ones.  They cost about $5 more each then generic stock replacement ones.  Generic stock replacement being questionable quality (ie. not from GM parts counter and make by lowest bidder) vrs something that you know is quality built like GM units or SOME aftermarket manufactures. ÂÂÂ
With ignition you normally dont notice any performance gains what so ever inless your current iginiton system is in the crapper and your engine is missing.  But I can testify that after installing a MSD coil on my Cougar idle was smoother, no power gains but smoother idle (I have crappy wires on it now so after I get those done it should run perfect.
But to answer your quesiton should you buy MSD coils for a NA application?  Depends who you ask, car manufacturers have that coil on plug ignition which puts out around 30,000 to 50,000 volts... They think its a good idea to have and overkill of spark...
IMO I would like to have 3 MSD coils sitting on my firewall (relocated), but I havent shelled out the $165cnd yet... Personally I wouldn't on a NA, but turbo, or nitrous I would. But you have to upgrade your complete igniton to get any significant gains: battery, coils, wires, plugs, ICM...

1991 Cavalier Z24- Racing seats, MSD wires, relocated MSD coils, 2.5" exhaust, ported exhaust manifolds, high volume oil pump, poly grafite front end, 92+ brake upgrade, drilled and slotted rotors, 1.5" lowering, 17" Klasse wheels...

Coil upgrade
The O.E. coils are fine under more turbulent conditions. They fire platinum/iridium colder plugs until the boost levels get to where smaller plug gapping is needed. I ran stock gap and had no problems with normal boost that the V6 can survive.
