WTB: Z24 2.4L twin cam LD9 engine parts near Pennsylvania

Post by daguse5853z »

Anyone have any engine parts for a 2000 2.4L twin cam or any year 96-02? Let me know what you have. The closer to State College, Pa the better! :burn:

I've got a few parts from a 1999 2.4, which is the same as a 2000. What exactly are you needing? If I've got it, it's yours for the price of shipping.

Well I need the intake/throttle body/ injectors /PCM for a cavalier/sunfire. I don't know if intakes from other paltforms are the same or not? This engine has rod knock so I'm also looking for a good crank with pistons and rods. The intake and other topend parts I can get locally but would be more interested in injectors and fuel rail with low miles. The bottom end can be high mileage as long as its not damaged or needing machine work. I prefer the pistons/ con rods original to the crank and marked so I don't have to have them balanced. I haven't pulled the oil pan off yet to inspect the damage but from experience I'm expecting the worse. I'm trying to stay away from the machine shop though so hopefully the cylinder bores aren't damaged lol. If they are I might look into a used engine. I definitely need the topend stuff though because this car had the GMPP supercharger on it and I'm returning it to stock and those parts didn't come with the car.

Why don't you buy a machined crank with bearings off ebay and be done with it?

the pistons and rods are grouped in sets by weight. so I'd still have to have the crank balanced to whatever piston/rods I ended up using but if I get a whole used assembly I don't have to worry about that. Ebay parts I'm not kosher with when it's something important plus that would bust the budget on this car. Minimal time and effort are going into getting this engine to run. It's either cheap used parts to get it running or a used high mileage engine for a couple hundred. Engine has 77,000 miles on it with rod knock lol. Gotta love people you regularly check their oil!

On what you're needing... I don't think I've got any usable parts left. My pistons all have valve marks in them and I'd be worried about rod stretch as well since they likely saw 10,000+ rpm.

I can't do that topend for the quad 4. the name for the project is "cheap and easy" so that topend doesnt fit either category lol. I have wanted ads on a few forums and craigslist. I have a lead on a engine that runs for $300 but it's all down to what the owner wants to do. Right now i'm just looking into prices and availability of stuff.

In regards to the supercharger kit it isn't going anywhere until the car is running down the road. At that point i'll decide to sell it or throw it in my storage unit with my GLH ground fx and other cool parts and just sit on it for awhile.

I have a first-design (1996 up through mid '99 -any of them with an EGR) LD9 2.4L Twin Cam intake, EGR (valve, mount, & tube), Throttle-Body, perfect condition (aside from needing a bath), no warp, no cracks. I believe the silicone gasket is still in good shape, if you're looking to save a few bucks on a new one.

I also have the fuel injectors and fuel rail, but I haven't tested the injectors, so I can't guarantee them, and I was saving them for my '97 turbo Z-24, so I would need a bit more $$ to pry them away from me.

I also have the complete head and cams / carriers from a 2001 LD9 2.4L Twin Cam with ~89k miles, ditto for them being saved for the Z, but if you offered the right money on them I would double-check it all for condition, but they should be in great shape.

If you are interested, shoot me a PM with a reasonable offer, I'll get back to you quickly. I know this stuff isn't made of gold, but I also know it can be hard to find in the right condition, so my price will reflect what these parts are worth to me, if I have to go hunt them down to replace them in the future, when good parts will be even harder to find. That said, I could use the money right now, and I would respect that the need for them is in the community. Let me know.
