Factory AM/FM Stereo Unit for 89 GT
Anybody have a working factory AM/FM stereo unit for an '89? (Right side amplifier on mine is crapping out, sounds like someone is rubbing sandpaper on the speakers).
I would only need the silver stereo unit chassis, I will re-use the face plate, trim, and HVAC controls that are in my car now Cassette player does not have to work. Does not have to have the silver buttons and knobs from a Beretta -- will take the black controls if it came out of a Corsica. PM me with what you want for it shipped to 15044. Thank you!

I have a 90 radio would that work? The display is crakced and it has trouble tuning in AM or FM. It would go from one to the other. One week it would only work on AM, the next would be FM. It is black and only good for parts.

Thanks, MPB. I'll pass on your offer. I actually have the original unit that came with the car, so I already have one for parts. I just don't have the time and/or motivation to tear into it and troubleshoot The current unit has been in the car a few years, and was purchased at a JY. I appreciate your offer to help, though!

If this is an EQ model in needs of repair i may be interested in buying as coreMoney pit Beretta wrote:I have a 90 radio would that work? The display is crakced and it has trouble tuning in AM or FM. Sorry, no EQ on this one. Here is a picture of what I am after (I've actually replaced this once before.) I only need the silver radio unit, I'll re-use the face plate and HVAC controls that are currently in the car. FYI that the donor radio I got from a Corsy had black preset buttons (I transferred the silver knobs and sliders from the GT radio).

Sure wish I could learn to double quote. Anyway if you want it, it's yours. Sorry, yes it does have an EQ. Whatever you want to pay for it is fine with me.ErichZ26 wrote:If this is an EQ model in needs of repair i may be interested in buying as coreMoney pit Beretta wrote:I have a 90 radio would that work? Let's call this thread "CLOSED".
Co-worker gave me a working aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD unit that he had lying around, so I have an adaptor face plate and wiring harness on order. Gonna deviate from factory stock on this one.
Thanks to all for the responses.

Awesome, sounds like a good stereo.
Funnily enough, a month or so ago there was actually one of these Beretta head units at a local thrift store complete with EQ. Had I known there was a market for them I would've grabbed it as it was like $3.
I actually have an EQ one in the garage in need of repair, it is from a 91 GMC Jimmy (S15) Works but the sound is all fuzzy. Not sure if you could adapt the HVAC controls to work with it though.
