2000+ 3400 intake
I would like to find a 2000+ 3400 upper/lower intake and a TB( I have cruise control and would like to keep it). Is there any change in the flow of the intakes on cars(like Malibu, Grand Am,etc)?
This swap will be used for learning, a little more power and as cores for the later 3400 build. A swap before a build is crazy I know, but I still want to do it and the build is a year or more down the road.

Re: 2000+ 3400 intake
I have an upper and lower but no throttle body. I am unsure of the year cause I did the swap a while ago. I think they are all the same size though. I also have the egr adapter with it. The only problem is the one coolant line broke off. You would need to get it out. The lower is also ground down for clearance of the rockers. I would like $100 shipped for the 3 parts. It is pretty heavy stuff.

Thanks for the offer punkboy. That price is very cheap. I do need a 2000 or up though. The year that your intake was made should be on the top of the lower intake on the right side by where the TB would be. It would be much less work for me if I had a 2000+ because I have a 95 3100.

My old car that it was on was a 95 3100. It will go on very easily. The only thing you need is an egr tube for the setup.

Re: 2000+ 3400 intake
I should have put in this topic that I plan to use the 2000 intakes as cores for some ported intakes for the 3400 engine build. Ben at WOT-Tech said he wouldn't take 99's as cores. Thanks again for the offer punkboy!

the 3500 flows so much more stock that you are throwing your money away on a ported 3400

Except for ease of install, buy a ported 3400 you dont need a TB adapter, you can stick with a factory 3400 TB, or go to a TCE and not need the extra adapter to make it fit. I did this for a while before I got my 3500 one, and at the strip they showed no difference in my 1/4mile time. I tested both the same day and got the same times.

Re: 2000+ 3400 intake
Hard to tell on my car which causes this, since I did the lower swap at the same time, but I know my powerband is a lot more broad. It pulls like mad and never stops then when it shifts it keeps pulling just as hard. 3400/3500 intake swap. If you are resourceful, it doesn't take much to port the 3400 lower to the gasket and the 3500 upper to the gasket. Then you don't have to port for a 65mm TB. I even retained cruse with my LX5 TB. Just get a carbide cutter and forget the stones if you do it... I spent waaaaay to long with the stones... hahha Yes blood sweat and tears went into my port job!! But there's not much to port really. I ground the neck a little and adjusted the FPR line and it fits fine.
Probably more to porting to clear the rockers than the gasket match. Unless you go all the way down the runners hogging them out. I just matched them to the 3400 gasket, which didn't take much my my 3400 lower, it was pretty much there, just cleaned it up and tapered it down a bit, and the 3500 had more to go, but it is just a thin 1/4" or less thickness to shave off (no runner).
Can you swap to roller rockers (do you have notches in the heads?) If so that would save a ton of work, risk (of cutting through into the runner), and give a slight increase in power.
The adapters are worth it to buy for the EGR and TB. I cut my own EGR adapter with a hacksaw out of 1" aluminum. I don't recommend it, but I was poor at the time, and had free time to do it haha. It cost me $2 in blades.... The aluminum was free! hehe

Re: 2000+ 3400 intake
Oops sorry, I thought I told you about the intake swap.
3X00: I can use the ported 3400 intakes on unported 3100 heads? I didn't think that the ports would line up if you did that. Wow, no change from the ported 3400 to a 3500, was the 3500 upper ported(I hear that it needs to be)? I'm going to go with the 3400 TB and may get the TCE for the engine swap.
Isaac: I'm just going to buy the ported intakes later. I'm not sure if I have a newer 3100, so I may have to notch the heads. Aluminum roller rockers? They only last for around 30K, so I'm not going to get them. Was there a topic somewhere on notching the heads? I'm going to buy a EGR adapter. Man Isaac, you did alot of work!

Re: 2000+ 3400 intake
Why does everything go wrong for me? I got an intake from a JY 3 hours away it was $150 shipped. The TB is a 99(it doesn't match the uppers IAC port), the upper is a 99(?) and the lower is a 99. I'm going to call them to see WTF is going on.

Re: 2000+ 3400 intake
They are going to call me back tomorrow. They are going back for sure! I did talk to one guy there and he said that all 3400 TB's are the same(not even close). You know how it goes for me 1988GTU.
