Rear Axle

Post by ChevyJon78 »

new to the forum... I have two berettas. a 94 Z26 and a 96 Z26. I'm restoring the 94 because it's in better shape. I want to lower the car but, can't seem to find any lowering springs. My 94 has the FE3 code. it's also sitting a bit higher than the 96. when I looked underneath. I noticed that both cars have completely different axles and different springs. so, I'm not sure what good lowering springs would be if they're only available in one style. The 94 rear springs are egg shaped with only a few coils. The 96 has a dropped lower spring perch with a normal looking spring with more coils. the 96 also sits a little lower. I'm thinking about just swapping the rear axles and maybe shave an additional 1/4 coil off the factory springs. As far as the front, I'm only seeing one strut listed for all year berettas. so, did the 96 cars have a factory lowering spring up front? or is the strut different? Also, any suggestions for new shocks and struts? I'm seeing Monroe and Gabriel for factory replacements.
