Price is a little high for a car that hasnt moved in several years and needs new tires. Even for a self proclaimed "ss" of which never actually existed besides an owner installed sticker.

GL on the sale.

It needs a new battery...and to have the gas refreshed. It should start fine otherwise.

The tires? Shrug...they're still inflated - so they're likely ok for a while.

I wasn't aware that the SS was just a sticker package. They came with the car.

And the price? Shrug. That's my initial ask. I'm open to reasonable offers.

Actually those "Beretta SS" decals were applied by the dealer in order to spark more interest just like the Cavalier SS of the same year. In reality it's just a base.

Good to know - thanks for the info.

Some guy just offered me $1200 for it...and wanted to pay via PayPal - and then would have the car picked up so it can be shipped to the UK.

So many ways that could be a scam....buddy tells me he can only pay via PayPal at the moment - after I told him certified check or cash. Wonder if he'll respond now. This is the 2nd time in 2 years that someone has tried to steal this car....

Quick question....what do you think a reasonable ask would be? I honestly have no clue...and thought $1000 seems like a good starting point to work from (knowing I'd get worked down in any pricing discussion). I looked around on eBay and whatnot to see if I could find a comparable car...the Beretta seems to be disappearing everywhere (although I did see two on the road just last week. One of which was a rusted out red Beretta SS). :)

Can't say without seeing pictures of the actual condition.

I'd remove the words 'SS' from the ad, since there really was no SS beside of stickers on a cheap base model, selling one sounds like a scam to me :)

Anyhow i can already say that from rusted & moisture damaged base model car that has been sitting in the bushes for years, with bad\rotten everything, closer to 250 would be right. :friends:

I don't think its as bad as that...but looks like my ask is a bit high.

I will take off the SS. I wasn't aware that was just a sticker package.

Man....I wish I had the time and money to restore it. Its was an awesome car - and it could really move.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Hope a collector buys it.

Im not knocking your car man, so dont take it the wront way. But im a 'collector'. I currently own 6 Berettas, and i at most would come pick the car up for free.

The Beretta isnt really a collector car. Factory one-off Berettas barely sold for 10 grand. Cars never gonna be worth anything to anyone who isnt already on these mailing lists.

Webas figure is pretty accurate. Maybe if it had a hard to find part on it, or something you couldnt get anywhere else. But its a base 95 with moderatly high miles. You had it rifht, there really isnt anything special about the car.

As reference. I bought a very rare 92 GTZ Quad 4 Medium Quasar Blue Beretta a few months ago for 1000. Its from california and 100% rust free. The brake and fuel lines are still shiny. And the top end had just been completly rebuilt. The paint is baked and the dash is warped. But these are easily fixed on the cheap.

Oh by the way. If the guy pays you via paypal. Make sure you withdrawl the cash first. Paypal will reverse transactions without even contacting you first. All he has to do is call and say he never got the item. They dont even check. So youre out (or negative on your paypal balance, which they WILL sue you for) 1200 dollars, and the car.

Good call on cash in hand or certified check.

No worries - I didn't take anything the wrong way. I'm good. I came to this forum for just what you've been offering - some knowledgeable insight into what it might be worth.

I'm an old hand with PayPal....I've sold over 1200 items on eBay over the years - so I know all the scams that people try to pull....and I know that PayPal doesn't give a crap about the seller at all.

I got a similar hit on the car this morning. This time the guy is on an oil rig and he can't come to see the car personally. Same kind of deal....will have a courier pick up and sign off on the ownership. Uh huh...whatever dude. I'm gonna play with this guy for a while....ask him what rig he happens to be on. Sure - the phones are down on the rig...but he can email me? As far as I know - phone service from an oil rig would likely be a satellite phone....and I haven't heard any reports of satellites crashing. :) I suspect it's some Al Queda clown trying to run a scam. I've heard that they are getting pretty innovative in the scams they pull to raise funds for their warped cause.

Just need to edit my add to remove the SS reference....and move the price down. I have an emotional attachment to this car (it was my first)....and I loved the way it moved and handled...and that's likely why I had the price too high - that and I wasn't able to find anything online that I could use as a guide in setting the price. Sigh. Wish I could keep it and get'r back on the road...but I no longer have space to store it....and my automotive skills are lacking.

6 Berettas? Wow dude! That's awesome. I failed to mention that I also have a Beretta key chain for it....that alone has gotta be worth my initial ask. ;)

Cheers!

It's too bad you can't keep it and fix it later. These cars are addicting, I'm on #3 and I still miss the other two occasionally.

Mine's an "SS" too (actually a GT that I resto-modded with a Trailblazer SS emblem).

FWIW, I bought a 95 base just this past summer for $350 (from a dealership in Milton On) and drove it home.
