Dim/Bright Lights
Dim/Bright Lights
Okay I read in another post on here about someone's lights dimming all the time. Well my problem is the opposite. My voltmeter needle sits just above half way normally. But when I get on the highway it shoots up to 18 and everything in my car goes bright, and if its night time my head lights start to go really bright and it looks like I am flashing my high beams and people dont like that. The thing is when it shoots from half way up to 18 on the voltmeter, right when it hits the top my ABS light comes on and then my AIRBAG light and then yesterday my Check Engine Light flickered for one second. So I ordered a new alternator from my husbands work, hoping this is the problem.
But does anyone else have any idea's. I need to get this fixed.. its freaking me out

My guess would be the alternater. that would cause these problems. i have personally witnessed an alternater overcharging. how long have you had the car??? did it do this since you've owned it ?? if so whoever had it before you could have possible swapped in a new pulley somewhere. i had a gtz that did the same thing and i swapped out the crank pulley. everything went back to normal... hope this helps.

Yep, sounds like the voltage regulator, which on Berettas is inside the alternator.

Well I changed the alternator tonight, and will see tomorrow if it does it again.
Thanks.
Thanks.
