Power window not working

Post by Guest »

I have an 89 beretta and the driver's side power window will not go down.  The switches are on the center console and the passenger's side window works fine.

Can someone give me some troubleshooting tips?  What component has most likely failed?

Thanks a lot!

Power window not working

Post by Jeff P »

Do you hear the gear running at all?  Maybe it's something simple like the wire coming disconnected from the plug for the window switch.  The wire could also have broken inside the boot it passes through from the car to the door.  Do you have an alarm with a window roll-up/down module?  Maybe the wire for that particular window was cut at some point.  And of course it's always possible the motor itself died.  Try removing the window switch and connecting a jumper wire between the PINK and BROWN terminals of the connector.  Then connect a jumper between the DARK BLUE and BLACK terminals of the connecor.  If the window still doesn't go down, the next step would be to remove the driver's door panel and apply power to the window motor itself (Positive to the BROWN terminal, Negative to the DARK BLUE terminal).  If the window moves down, the problem is in the wiring.  Make sense?
