OBD 1 Mods

Post by way_out_there »

Hello all, first post on this board.

I'm here in search of info/vendors that still have parts/mods to offer for OBD 1 vehicles. Not a Beretta, but a 1987 Cavalier Z24. Yeah, it's old, it was your predecessor. But, the motors were similar at that time. I'm not interested in motor swaps, I would rather make the most of what I have. Low mileage, 76K, I have owned since 1988. Any help is greatly appretiated.

Emulator?

Forgive my ignorance, I've been out of the game for a while.

Could you enighten me on this? Is this a device to force one action, while reporting something different back to the ECM?  I'll definately take a look at the site, to see if I get it.

Thanks!!!

Thanks also Cliff8928!

I see you have a vehicle of similar vintage. Do you have a "garage" with a list of mods?

the emulators can be plugged in and updated on the fly.  The ostrich is the one you want if you want to change things on the fly.  If you dont care the chip burners are a little cheaper but I'd just get the ostrich myself.

Not related to your question, but check out v6z24.com

That board has more members with gen 1 and 2 J-bodies than j-body.org does. Just thought you might like to know if you didn't already.

Wow, haha 1987. I wasn't even born then! The best thing you could do for that engine is to do a hybrid with 3X00 heads intake and exhaust manifold. then tune it with moates' stuff. you'll like what happens.

scberetta3800,

I saw a kit to do just that at wot. It caught my eye to say the least. I may have to send them an e-mail for specifics. Combustion chamber size / compression ratio changes would be one off the top of my head.

Not to date myself, but I graduated from high school in 1987. This was my gift to myself back then. Summer use only, 76,000 miles. It has some suspension work, and a few mild tweaks. I'd like to wake it up.
