Just wondering, can i pull a external sway bar off of a '91 cavalier z24 and put in on? looks like it might work out but I need to know 100%. If its a no go, are there any other cars that would work besides the obvious beretta models and addco (trying to do it on a budget).

They are not on the '88s. And the easiest way to tell is to feel the end of the bar. If there is a hole, it's not the solid bar!
And as for your inquiry as to whether nor not a bar from a Cavi will fit, to the best of my knowledge no. And I even have a Cavi with the solid bar at home. I guess I could look. But I'm pretty sure the mounts won't work. Other cars with a bar that will work? There are none. You have to find one from a Beretta. I can speak for the Addco bar and it is AWESOME. I ran the Z51 bar and now I have an Addco and the Addco is MUCH better. Worth the money, but then again I did get mine cheaper as it was used.

I have a solid rear sway in my garage, but it is waiting for me to buy another Beretta... which may never happen.

I have one, but I'm missing the outer mounts... and the inners are chopped for the internal bar to be there.

Well I guess that settles it, I'll save up for the addco! [can't beat testimony like that]
My car doesn't have the speed, so handling is where I'm putting my money on and it's as good as you say it is, why not.

3X00, even with the notches for the internal bar the mounts will still function just fine without the internal bar there. And I concur Amateur, buy the cool kid bar.

How rare are the rear swaybars for the Beretta's. I saw one in the yard today but did not bother taking it because I already have one. That way if they are hard to come by I will go get it.

Not too rare. But make sure you're pulling the solid bar, not the hollow one. No one wants the hollow one.
I used to pull these any time I saw one, but the shipping got to be a hassle as they are so awkwardly shaped and no one wants to pay for the process.

I think they are pretty rare , around here anyways . The Z51 option was only avaiable on the 88 gt ... right?

Amateur... I'll be going yarding hopefully this weekend. If not this one, the next. If I see one I'll pull it for you, brackets and all.

I now have the whole setup if anyone is interested... All stock parts. I can also include the internal plastic brackets that are cut away to accommodate an internal bar with it.

If you are trying to get them from yards anywhere around Aurora Illinois. Good luck. As a matter of fact i pulled one the same week you originally posted this topic.

I scored 2 of them in past year. One of the cars came into yard on flatbed rusted out. I happend to be there on its way to crusher...I pulled it. This same yard had a 1995 58k mile Beretta base nice interior.

The bars aren't that rare and I would advise against pulling something like this unless you are willing to wait for an interested buyer and then deal with the oddly shaped shipping needs.
