BerettaFest 2013 Location Proposals

Post by quad4berettagtz »

In the continued effort to improve BerettaFest each year, we are moving forward with the new proposal and voting system. This year at BerettaFest we heard from three different parties who proposed three different locations for 2013.

Our proposed locations for 2013 are:
-Escanaba, MI (Carl and Linda Little)
-Kansas City, MO (Erich Dethloff)
-Denver, CO (Ryan Haenny)

This will be the thread that we will use for ALL the official proposals. We will hold discussion threads on each one seperately, but I would like a central home for all the information.

TO THOSE WHO SUBMITTED PROPOSALS:
Please post your online version of your proposal here (will also be available on the Yahoo Groups email list) before Saturday, July 7th! We will then get our online primary polls up and running! Once you have posted your proposal in this thread, please set up a discussion thread for your respective proposal!

Thanks to everyone who put forward some great locations for 2013!

Berettafest Proposal for 2013 Escanaba, Michigan

Bayshore drives, friendly community and great amenities make the Bays de Noc in Michigan’s Delta County the best
choice for the 2013 BerettaFest car show and meet. This is a community that loves motorsports, and has hosted such prestigious meets and events as the 2010 Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) Rally, Michigan Christian Motorcycle Association Rally, the BMW International Rally and Meeting, the Krusin’ Klassics (annual regional classic car show).

Our community loves motorsports of all kinds, so much so that when large, regional car shows are in town for an
event we organize a parade that runs from the fairgrounds through the City of Escanaba, along the shores of Little Bay de Noc, and through the City of Gladstone. The parade route is about 15 miles and gives attendees a chance to
show off their rides and the community a chance to give drivers a big Delta County welcome.

Events in Delta County are truly community events with enthusiastic participation from local businesses and our
strong core of community volunteers.

Itinerary:

Thursday afternoon:
* Registration at the hotel

Thursday Night:
* Esky Fun Park with banked go-kart course, bumper boats and more (information available at http://www.eskyfunpark.com)

Friday Morning:
* For Friday AM, we have a choice of several different group tours and events for participants to visit and enjoy:
* Dobber’s Pasties—owner Brad Mantela will help you create your own version of this U.P. classic delicacy (pronounced pass-tee). From the history of the pasty in the mines of the Upper Peninsula to the various modern recipes, you’ll learn, make your own and eat it.
* House of Ludington History Brunch—this hotel has history to spare. A hotel in some form or another has occupied this space since 1871, and some very famous guests have slept in its rooms. The most infamous times were the ‘Days of Hayes’, when eccentric owner (with mob ties!) Pat Hayes shamelessly promoted the hotel and town as a resort for the well-to-do of Chicago and beyond. The presentation, put together by former employee Kathy Bennett, gives a glimpse into those glamorous days, along with a tour of the facility as it stands now.
* Fayette State Park on the Garden Peninsula is a restored and preserved former iron town with buildings dating from the second half of the 19th century. Owned by the state since the 1950’s, the site has been excavated, restored and is a must-see in Delta County. Brenda Laakso, site historian, gives an in-depth tour of the buildings, stories and characters that gave Fayette life during its brief heyday.
* Wallace Zoo, where you can get up close and personal to many wild animals, like lions, tigers and bears, OH MY.

Friday Afternoon:
* Road course (rally) trail covering over 150 miles of shore-to-shore UP beauty with stops on both Lake Michigan, Lake Superior and throughout the Northern forests, waterfalls and vistas in-between

Friday Night:
* Drag Racing Test & Tune Night available in Kaukauna, Wisconsin at Wisconsin International Raceway, 2 hour drive (134 miles) to the South (freeway, so it’s fast driving and a great time!). $25 for 3 runs on the strip—it’s a great deal, too.

Saturday Allday:
* Car Show and Picnic on the shores of Bay de Noc complete with s’mores afterwards at the Little’s

Additional pending activities
include:

During BerettaFest, the following
free-time activities and amenities will be available:

* Car wash stations and large, private parking lot for parking through the Fest and for the car show at the hotel
* Great food, shopping and historical sites with beautiful drives throughout the area—the U.P. is a cruising lovers dream!
* The Island Resort and Casino is located 13 miles west of Escanaba. This casino has won awards for their entertainment lineup, and has a great variety of slots and table games.
* Delta County celebrates the outdoors in many forms: it is a dream for golf players with 9 courses, outdoors lovers with gun clubs, great fishing and hundreds of acres of public land and beaches.

-Additionally, more dedicated space is available at the UP State Fairgrounds for larger show if necessary. The UP State Fairgrounds is also home to the Upper Peninsula International Raceway which hosts motorsports racing events throughout the summer.
-Local Bars, some within walking distance, plus Hotel has a courtesy vehicle that will drop you off and pick you up.
-Hotel arranged, nice, two different places to gather and not worry about noise, plus private parking lot just for berettas. Approx. $80.00 per night.
-Park for Picnic and car show will only cost the group $40 and nothing for admission for cars or people.
-Park has large kids playground right next to picnic area.

This proposal is set as just that, a proposal, none of it is carved in stone and can be changed as the wants and needs of the bfest group dictate.
The main idea for this area is that I thought people might enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of a big city, yet still meet all the needs of bfest.

I give to you the super sweet 3D interactive BerettaFest 2013 Denver Colorado proposal!!!

*See here for the official BFest 2013 Denver Website! https://sites.google.com/site/berettafe ... rcolorado/
*The Word doc file attached to this post, as well as the website listed above, have a ton of links in it to many of the features of the proposal.

Beretta Fest 2013: Denver, Colorado

Thursday:
12:00 - 4:00pm Hotel registration & check in
Take your coat off and stay a while. Get comfy, you’ll be here all weekend! Hotel & rates TBD. Estimations are at $70 to $120 a night. Get a roomie!

6:00 – 9:00pm Option 1: Beau Jo’s Pizza Cruise!
Beau Jo’s pizza is a Colorado homegrown classic! You will not find better pizza in this state, hands down. We will leave the hotel in a caravan up the hill to Beau Jo’s; about a two hour drive round trip through some of Colorado’s scenic mountain highway.

5:00 - 9:00pm Option 2: Go Karts! (5:00 - 6:00pm Drive time)
You want Karts? I got Karts! We have 9 go kart tracks to choose from ranging from indoor and outdoor to tame and friggin’ wild! Is 90mph six deep around a paved 1 mile outdoor course enough for you?
IMI Motorsports Complex, 'Nuff Said. You do have to prove your mettle to run the higher end carts, but you shouldn’t have a problem with that, right? There are much tamer carts as well for the whole family. We can also consider renting the entire track for an hour or two. Shhh…. I have an email in to them as well to see if we can rent the road course for automobile use. Unser Racing is also an excellent option. Perhaps a Grand Prix event?

Friday:
Option 1 – 10:00am - 3:00pm Scenic Cruise & Colorado Sightseeing
The planned cruise route is 130 miles long at about 3.5 hours round trip. Keep in mind that is only drive time and doesn’t include the time spent stopping for photos and what not. The route will take us up into the mountains and up Mt. Evans Road, the highest paved road in North America! We’ll be able to hit the summit and take some gorgeous photos before turning around to take a different route through the Colorado wilderness back to the hotel. This trip is not absolute wilderness and will be fully paved the entire route. If anything happens to your car it will be easily repaired or recovered, no sweat.
Click here for a sweet 3D map of the cruise route! You can even click the small “3D” button to the top right of the first instruction for a driven 3D view of our route! You may need to refresh the page. (you must have Google Earth installed on your computer for this to work) We could very easily add Red Rocks Amphitheatre to the end of this trip as well with a very small detour.
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=i-70 ... ABD1KwQ%25

Option 2 – 10:00am - 5:00pm Colorado Junkyard Cruise
The planned cruise route is two hours long but again, remember that is only drive time and not time spent walking yards and pulling parts. We will visit 4 different junkyards in our journey and can easily accommodate one more or one less as we see how our timeline unfolds. Some of the yards even have online listings of their inventory so that we can see if it is even worth our time to include them in the drive; U Pull and Pay (Denver & Aurora), Pull and Save and Colorado Auto. The more hokey pokey you do in each yard the less time we have to hit as many as we can. Click here for a sweet 3D map of the cruise route! You can even click the small “3D” button to the top right of the first instruction for a driven 3D view of our route! You may need to refresh the page. (you must have Google Earth installed on your computer for this to work)
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=i-70 ... 70+west&hl

We can provide route maps for both cruises and you can choose which one you would like to take.

5:00 - ???pm Free time to hit the town, or the parking lot.

Oh, you want drag racing? Well, here are your options:
Option 1 – Local, Track Rental Drag Racing – Note AM Timeline
8:30 – 9:00am Drive Time
9:00 – 3:00pm Track Rental @ Bandimere Speedway
Please note this option relies heavily on funding. We will need to tie in with another car club or entity, or get a few event sponsors in order to be able to afford this. This makes it even more of a blast! Bandimere will provide a much more local and more professional track rather close to where we are staying. Plus, with a track rental we can see anywhere between 12 and 20 runs! With plenty of room for spectators and the like, we can all easily chill here during the racing. In order to utilize Bandimere for our track time, the track must be rented. Due to their typical event schedule it is simply not feasible to run here on Friday or Saturday night.

Option 2 – Long Distance Drag Racing
2:30 - 4:30pm Drive time *Mandatory departure time*
5:00 – 11:00pm Friday Night Drags @ PMP
Pueblo Motorsports Park was the host to the BFest Friday Night Drags in 2004 and it may host us again in 2013. The track is a 2 plus hour drive from the hotel, but it is the only track that isn’t just busy busy busy. The drive is a scenic and relaxing one with a 75mph speed limit most of the way. Traffic may be thick but it may break up. If we can’t afford option 1, you should see plenty of runs here… However keep in mind that you may not make it back to the hotel until well after midnight. To put this drive into perspective, one way it is the same distance

Saturday:
10:00 - 5:00pm Picnic, car show and group photo
Clement Park is located in the Front Range of Colorado and has plenty to offer any attendee. We will have our own picnic shelter and parking lot area for the car show. The area of the park that we will use for our event is right next to a main road, so we may even get a little attention for once! This should be highly suitable as our group photo location as well.

5:30 - ???pm Free time to choose from the A La Carte menu
Hit the hotel to wash off the car show and then let’s hit the streets! There are ample options for you to choose from depending on what you would like to do or see here in Colorado. See the list below.

Sunday:
10:00 - 12:00pm Pack it up and hit the road!
I would be happy to help with an additional event or take everyone to an excellent breakfast place for a farewell meal. Sunrise Sunset is a breakfast that you simply have to eat to believe.

Beretta Fest 2013 A La Carte Activity Menu:

I present to you Tipsy's Liquor World, the largest liquor store in all of Colorado at 87,000 square feet! There’s also Applejack’s, the second largest! The official liquor stores of Beretta Fest 2013!

Want to test your luck at a mile hi? Blackhawk and Central City offer 10 casinos within 2 miles of each other! Shuttles are available if you have to drink off your losses.

Other attractions:
Downtown Denver – Everyone’s a mile high…
Club Auto - LeMay Auto Museum – An abundance of exotic cars for you to drool on.
Denver Microbrewery Tour – We have so many microbreweries, it’s not even funny.
Coors Brewery – Yeah, they brew this crap here.
Denver Zoo – The animals are high too!
Mt. Evans Road – Highest paved road in North America!
Beau Jo's Pizza – The BEST pizza in Colorado.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre – One sweet amphitheatre. So cool, people go there when there is not a show!
Water World – One of the biggest water parks in North America = fun.
Jump Street – A HUGE facility practically made of trampolines!
The Denver Art Museum – Yeah, we got a little class.
The Botanical Gardens – And plants!
The Butterfly Pavilion – And bugs!
The Denver Aquarium – And fish!!
Garden of the Gods – Oh man rocks too! A large park famous for the “Kissing Camels” rock formation.
The Denver Mint – One of only two US Mints, they make over 40 million coins… a day!
Elitch Gardens – Water Park and roller coasters.
Lakeside Amusement Park – I dare you to ride the “Wild Chipmunk”…
Lyons Classic Pinball – An arcade which solely consists of classic pinball machines.
The 1Up Bar – Classic Arcade games a’plenty await you at this retro-arcade bar.
The Eisenhower Tunnel – The highest automotive tunnel in the world!
The Colorado Capitol Building – Come and see the stair step that is exactly one mile above sea level.
Blackout Block – Dubbed so because it has about 15 bars in a three block area. ‘Nuff said.

The proposal is full of a lot to do and yes, a lot of free time. BerettaFest seldom makes its way this far west so you might as well have all of the time you can get to explore the state. Everything on the itinerary is within an hour of the hotel save for the long distance drag racing. You can drive 15 minutes and see the foothills or 30 minutes and see the mountains. One hour will put you up and over the Continental Divide via the Eisenhower Tunnel. A little over an hour south puts you in Colorado Springs. Most all that is worth seeing in the state is within an hour and a half from the hotel!
If you have questions concerning anything about this proposal, post up or PM me!

All Hail Beretta Fest 2013 – Denver Colorado!!

Kansas City 2013 Proposal

Kansas City is a metropolis that rests in Missouri and Kansas.
It is the City of Fountains, Parks and Boulevards as it has over 40 municipal fountains all through it.
Kansas City is home to the World War I national museum and monument. This museum holds most of the national WWI artifacts and information.
Being a train town KC has a large historical train station in the same area and offers an exhibit hall with a changing exhibits.
Kansas City has well respected American BBQ and some of the best in the world. Arthur Bryants, Gates, and Jack Stack make this a BBQ destination.
There is some overlap for example. I chose Boulevard brewery tour as a starting point. This is a respected regional brew and is available in many markets outside KC. Power and Light District is a lot of fun to go out. There are many classy and relaxing outdoor bars, clubs for an event like ours to be rather social. There is parking. There is the more amusement style of Power and Light or the classy urban area of Westport. There is a GM auto plant in KC where the new Malibu is being built. There is no schedule yet for any tours for 2013. There may be an opportunity to get a tour planned. Saddlers a high speed Indoor racing is near. These are the 45mph karts with similar pricing to past years.
Hotel/Accomidations
A potential hotel I located very close to most of the events and sites we would take part in.
It is a nice modernized hotel and top rated. The hotel has offered to block off an area on the street for trucks and trailered vehicles.
There is a parking lot in which we could safely park cars as well. The group rate is $109(from 2012) a room. It comes with 3 free drinks and breakfast.
FREE COCKTAILS/DRINKS
FREE SHUTTLE
FREE BREAKFAST
Wednesday Night
Planning Committee Social and EARLY check in(for those going to water park) Hotel Lobby.
Thursday
10am until 2pm Check in at hotel.
3pm Boulevard Brewery Tour. FREE
5pm Saddlers High speed Karts (with limited alcohol from previous event of course)
OR
ALL DAY at Schlitterbahn Water Park Thursday (cheaper than weekend)
There is a 4 person famly/group rate of $109 or 15 group rate(TBA)
8pm Dinner Arthur Bryant OR Gates OR Jack Stack BBQ
Friday
10am until 5pm WW1 Museum & KC Union Station(Science Hall Exhibits)
5pm-10pm Drag Racing US 36 Raceway May be scheduled 1/8 mile track Distance to track is 1 hour drive
Saturday
Group Picnic, Car Show, Awards
Power and Light District or Stay in Westport
Sunday

For anyone that may be on the fence as to where to vote for let me just mention this. If Denver is chosen the picnic lunch will be gourmet and handmade. No, seriously. Toni and Kevin, the two best buds of mine that helped cook this year, will be making the lunch for us all. We will have hot dogs and hamburgers of course, but they will be ground by us out of fresh high grade meats and the dogs cased by us as well. Plus whatever else Toni decides to whip up, which is usually something just friggin' mind blowing.

Believe that. 8)

Yeah Colorado! If anyone has any questions about the proposal timeline, just ask! Or if you have suggestions for events, cruise routes or any general suggestions just let me know! As much as I want to visit the Eisenhower tunnel AND Mt. Evans road in the same drive, I'm not sure the group would be up to such a long trip.
