Polishing my Z26 wheels
Polishing my Z26 wheels
I'm using some mold maker polishing stones to clean up the aluminum after stripping the clear off.
Then I spin them on my Bridgeport mill using a wire brush to shine the surface. Not perfect but much improved
over what they were. I can't wait to put them on the 88 GT. Then I'm coating them with polyurethane.
It takes a few hours per wheel. I just hope it stands up the the weather.

thanks, I just posted because the board seems inactive.
I got two done then a virus hit me.
Oh well, it's best to get it over with before Xmas.

Yes, the forum users have mostly moved on with their cars and the chatter is low.... however the influx of new owners don't know how forums work and live on facebook... There is quite a bit of activity there but I wish they would visit here more to actually see the categorized sections regarding mods and information rather than asking the same damn questions over and over again to only be lost in the facebook feed world... I hate facebook groups.

Re: Polishing my Z26 wheels
Maybe use some 303? I don't know if it will do much different, but it should hold up better than regular tire dressing, I would imagine. Not sure how either would hold up against the heat of the wheels...

I might that that 303, I see it on Ebay. In the meantime I used Turtle Wax "Ice" that I had lying around.

Looks good! I love that color too. AutoZone sells the 303 now as well!

Looks great. I recommend putting some sort of sealant to protect the wheels.
