-89 GTU digital dash

Hi,my fathers GTU got new user(my daughter),and after 3 year sitting at yard,part of dash isn't working right.Odometer 7 segment doesn't read right,some of numbers are letters.So question,are all 87...90 digital dash same,can I "plug and play"other year model digital dash to ours -89 beretta?

The ONLY difference I have found in them over production years (I stocked-up several spares over the years, and have three cars with them) is the backlighting bulbs -there were two different sizes. I don't think swapping odometer info is easily or safely done, but if that doesn't matter to you then any replacement cluster you find should work. Only V-6 cars received the digi-dash option, so regardless of donor, the tach should work properly too (ignition systems for the 2.8 and 3.1 were identical).

VDO manufactured these clusters for GM, and they are very durable. Failures are usually caused by poor connections between the glass display panels themselves and the circuit-boards, the grey rubbery strips pinched between them are the actual conductors. Sometimes, you can luck-out by wiping the contact surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and re-assembling, but of course it can also make the situation worse.
