3400 Swap

Post by Asylum »

Get ahold of Jon (3400-95-modified on B'Stuff)
He's in CT and has done a couple of 3400 swaps.
He also knows where to get very good engines a some pretty good prices.

3400 Swap

Post by worldbfree »

Are you doing the swap yourself or going to have a shop install it for you? The hardest thing about the 3400 swap that I encounterd was explaining to a shop that the engine harness transmission and other things swap together. They usually look at you like you are crazy as hell and have no idea. I'm looking for a shop to install my 3400.

3400 Swap

Post by 94beretta »

no shop, ill be doing this myself in my garage, its not all that hard, plus I went to school for automotive mechanics, worked at a couple of shops over the last couple of years, I have already taken my beretta completely apart a few times, like many people on here.I just wanted to know what problems people ran in to mainly with the top engine mount or if it was  the same on a newer 3400 from a 2004 grand am

Unless you happen to run into a "shop" that is willing to do custom work AND you have a bulging wallet, you either better get handy with tools or find someone who is.
This is NOT a swap you want the local repair shop doing!
It's just one of those things that isn't all that difficult, but people unfamiliar with it will make it that way, and expensive, in a hurry. (Did that make sense?)
But FWIW labor wise. About $300 plus the needed parts would be about right.
